Paul Nikkel co-founded Quidco, the web's online cashback cooperative, in May 2005. He had become increasingly frustrated by the fact that commission generated by consumers' smart shopping decisions was often going into someone else's pocket rather than the consumer themselves.
Armed with a strong passion and interest in making a site that would reward consumers for making their own informed purchasing decisions, Quidco was born.
Quidco has developed into a thriving business - today, it employs 21 staff and enables its members to earn cashback from more than 1,300 online retailers, including Apple, The Carphone Warehouse, Dell, Expedia, HMV, Lastminute.com, Marks & Spencer, Play.com, and Tesco.
Paul, of Canadian origin, grew up in the rural area of Manitoba, where co-operatives were an integral part of community life. He moved to the UK to pursue post-graduate studies in Sheffield and currently resides in London.
Paul holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield for his research on military vocabulary in ancient Near Eastern texts.
